Sending controls and daily limits
How to configure daily send limits, send windows, and pacing in CarcMail to protect your sender reputation.
The single most important thing you can do to protect your inbox reputation is to keep your daily send volume within a safe range. More is not always better in outbound email.
Overview
Send controls let you set how many emails CarcMail sends per day from a given campaign. They act as a ceiling — CarcMail will never send more than the limit you set, even if there are hundreds of leads waiting.
Why does this matter? Email providers — Gmail, Outlook, and others — score senders based on behaviour patterns. A sudden spike in volume from a new or low-activity inbox is a red flag. Consistent, moderate volume over time builds a positive reputation that keeps your emails landing in the inbox.
CarcMail also distributes emails across the day rather than sending all of them at once, which further reduces the chance of triggering rate limits or spam filters.
Daily limits by plan
Your plan sets the maximum daily limit across all campaigns and inboxes combined:
| Plan | Max emails per day |
|---|---|
| Trial | 40 |
| Starter | 250 |
| Growth | 900 |
| Scale | Contact us |
Your inbox warmup stage may set a lower effective limit than your plan allows. CarcMail will warn you if you try to send more than what your warmup stage safely supports.
Before you start
- You know your inbox's current warmup stage (check Settings → Inboxes)
- You have reviewed your plan's daily limit in Settings → Plans
- You have a campaign created and ready to configure
Step-by-step
Open campaign settings
Go to Campaigns and click the campaign you want to configure. In the campaign detail view, click Settings.
Set the daily email limit
In the Send controls section, enter your desired daily limit. Guidelines by inbox stage:
- New inbox (week 1): 20–30 emails per day
- 2–3 week old inbox: 30–60 emails per day
- Warmed inbox (4+ weeks): 60–150 emails per day
- Established inbox (several months): Up to your plan limit
When in doubt, start lower. You can always increase the limit after a few days of clean delivery.
Save and apply
Click Save settings. The new limit applies immediately — if the campaign is already active, the next day’s sends will respect the new limit.
How pacing works
CarcMail distributes your daily email quota across a roughly 8-hour window during business hours (based on the lead’s likely timezone where available, otherwise your account’s timezone). This means if you set a limit of 60 emails per day, CarcMail sends approximately 7–8 per hour across the working day — not all at once in a burst.
You can view the actual send schedule in Send logs, which shows the timestamp for each outgoing email.
Do not set your campaign limit higher than your plan’s daily maximum. Excess emails will be queued to the next day automatically, but repeatedly hitting the cap may indicate you need to upgrade your plan.
How to confirm settings are applied
- The campaign detail page shows the current daily limit in the settings summary
- Send logs show emails distributed across the day (not all sent at the same time)
- If you lower the limit mid-campaign, the next day’s count will reflect it
Common issues
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| Campaign sending fewer than the limit | Your inbox may have hit a per-hour rate limit with the provider. CarcMail throttles automatically to avoid errors. |
| Emails all sent in the morning | This is expected — CarcMail sends earlier in the day when possible. Your timezone setting may affect this. |
| Daily limit is greyed out | Your plan limit may already be lower than what you tried to set. Check your plan. |
